Abstract
The function of Kupffer cells was examined before and after PE with CSFe and phagocytic index (K) was calculated. K decreased clearly just after PE. The possible reason is such that Kupffer cells pick up IC and other solutes during PE (augmented removal), resulting in transient hypofunction just after PE. When FFP was used as a replacement fluid, fibronectin was supplied to the patient and phagocytic activity of RES seemed to be maitained.
