Abstract
From April 1986. practical application of donor plasmapheresis (DP) will be governmentally approved in Japan. To popularize DP, donor safety or acceptability seemed to be recovery rates of blood components and adverse effects found in donors after DP treatments. Among the factors, the recovery rates were examined on volunteers, 170 males and 92 females in respect of methods of plasma collection (centrifuge and membrane) and sex distinction. The recovery rates were different according to the components and the results can be classified into 4 groups. The recovery ratio exceeding 98 in almost all the components were observed a week after DP treatments irrespective of the methods or sex distinction. Significant difference of the recovery ratio regarding main proteins between the both methods was never found. Significant difference of the ratio concerning the sex distinction was also never experienced and seemed to be equivalent. Each recovery production rate/day of protein components after DP treatments calculated from the recovery ratio is; TP 7.4%, Albumin 8.2%, IgG 4.0%, IgA 5.1%, and IgM 11.0%, In conducting DP treatments, it is important to take care of some matters such as detail explanation, on DP treatments prior to the initiation, checking of donor conditions and post DP consideration on donors.
