CLINICAL STUDY OF DIETHYLAMINOETHYL-CELLULOSE DIALYSIS MEMBRANE

Abstract

A new diethylaminoethyl-cellulose dialysis membrane (Hemophan; HP) was tested for biocompatibility compared with Cuprophan (CP) and Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). In WBC drop during the hemodialysis, HP showed a smaller change than CP and a greater change than PMMA. Changes of neutrophils, lymohocytes and platelets were similar to WBC. No significant changes were seen in PaO₂ In C₃3a generation, HP displayed a smaller change than CP and a greater than PMMA. In platelet factor-4 generation, HP showed a smaller change than PMMA and a greater than CP. In conclusion, it is considered that the biocompatibility of HP is good.
