Abstract
Pumpless ECMO experiment for acute respiratory failure was carried out using extracapillaly blood flow type membrane oxygenator, which was developed by this department. The oxygenator has many advantage, compact, small priming volume and low pressure drop. Control group (n=5) without pumpless ECMO all died within 4 hours. 24-hours ECMO was carried out 4 in 9 dogs. Hypoxia and hypercapnea were improved and CO2 transfer rate didn't decreased. The oxygenator seems to be available for long-term pumpless ECMO.
