RELATION BETWEEN OXYGEN UPTAKE AND WORKLOAD IN PRE-AND POST OPERATIVE PATIENTS WITH VALVULAR HEART DISEASE

Abstract

Relation between oxygen uptake and workload in bicycle ergometer exercise stres test was studied in eighty three patients who were received or scheduled prosthetic valve replacement. Oxygen uptake and workload at AT and peak achieved workload were assesed by percent attainment of perdicted normal value calculated from sex, age, weight and height. Percent attainment of VO₂ and work load at AT were closely related in patients with NYHA functional class I, II and III. Those at peak achieved workload were also closely related in patients with NYHA functional class I and II.
