Abstract
A long tapered section is less convenient for coronary anastomosis, but conduit manufacturers argue that it optimizes blood flow. In this study, flow through anatomical and conduit models was observed and flow through model coronary arteries was measured. Comparison indicated that there is no advantage to a long tapered section with regard to flow. A minimized tapered section is therefore optimal.
