Abstract
The new method of pumpless ECHO by It. PA-LA bypass was experimentally studied in two groups (group A=mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP)>30 mintlg (n=20). group B=mPAP<30 mmHg (n=10)}. The hollow fiber membrane oxygenator, especially the extracapillary blood flow type, (SARNS-16310, Masterflo5l) was placed between It. PA and LA. Monitoring parameters (AP, PAP, pressure gradient between in and outlet of artificial oxygenator, CO, bypass flow, PaO2, PaCO2, PvO2, PvCO2.) were measured in various postures. (Group A) After starting the ECMO, mPAP was significantly decreased and bypass flow was about 40% of CO. Gas transfer was efficient. These parameters had no remarkable changes in various postures. This method may be useful for the implantable artificial lung.
