Abstract
A gelatin-sealed Knitted Dacron grafts which have zero-porosity were implanted in 96 patients with either aortic aneurysms or aorto-iliac occulusive diseases. There was no measurable blood loss at implantation from the body of the sealed graft (Gelseal Triaxial), although there was no significant difference in blood loss and blood transfusion between the sealed graft group and the non-sealed graft groupo Twenty patients (24%) of the sealed graft group showed fever in the 2nd postoperative week, but there was no significant difference in the body temperature between the two groups in the 3rd postoperative week. The values of CRP of the fever group in Gelseal Triaxial were significantly higher than those of the non-sealed graft group both in the 2nd and 3rd postoperative week. There was only one case with graft infection. The patency rate was 100%, ranging from 1 month to 61 months (mean 13 months). Gelseal Triaxial is a clinically useful graft with no major complications.
