Abstract
We used a new woven velour Dacron vascular prostheses (VelexTM) in ten cases of replacement of abdominal aortic aneurysm. As compared with a knitted velour Dacron vascular prostheses (USCI SauvageTM Bionit II) used in thirty cases of the same operation, the handling of VelexTM was as easy as that of SauvageTM. The intra-operative blood loss of VelexTM group was significantly lesser than that of SauvageTM group (382±185gm vs. 760±326gm, p=0.048). And the operation time was significantly shorter in VelexTM group than that in Sauvagegroup (151±33 min. vs. 215±38min., p=0.012). There was no complication caused by prostheses in each groups in early post operative period. So it is concluded that the usage of VelexTM vascular prostheses may decrease the intraoperative blood loss, and may shorten the operation time during replacement of abdominal aortic aneurysm compared to SauvageTM vascular prostheses.
