Abstract
The amount of white speckles in the oc-ular fundus was suggested to have high potential providing a proper index for the diagnosis of dialysis-related amyloidosis (DRA), which is recognized as one of the serious complications of long-term hemodialysis. It has been reported that white speckles were observed in the ocular fundus of patients undergoing hemodialysis. They suggested that the amount of white speckles was related to the severity of DRA. Using image analysis, we have studied to evaluate the amount of white speck-les. The amount of white speckles was compared with the other clinical index of DRA. White speck-les were extracted from photographs of ocular fundus by using gray level information of green spectrum. And it was suggested that the amount of white speckles correlated with the duration of hemodialysis.
