Tb0.3Dy0.7Fe2 giant magnetostrictive thin film was prepared using an ion beam sputtering (IBS) process. In spite of an amorphous like structure of the film analysed, significantly low coercive force, large magnetostriction and very high magnetostrictive susceptibility. The effect was yielded by Ar in the film included during the IBS process.
