Abstract
This study was performed to develop high efficiency grinding technology, including truing and dressing conditions, and a method for zirconia-toughened alumina ceramics. This paper describes appropriate vitrified-bonded diamond wheel truing and dressing methods. With experimental evaluation of truing efficiency and accuracy in a few methods, it was shown that a traverse grinding method with a brake truer after helical path grinding along the periphery of the grinding cup wheel was reasonable to implement highly efficient and accurate vitrified-bonded diamond wheel truing. Moreover, dressing with a stick grinding wheel was needed to complete stable grinding with little increase in grinding force.
