ELID grinding wheel fabrication technology applying PELID and 3D printer

Abstract

To realize on-demand manufacturing techniques, we have developed a new hybrid system that combines a 3D printer and liquid droplet abrasive technology PELID. Grinding wheels were built using this system and examined by grinding experiments. During the experiments, we found that the injection of abrasives into the grinding wheels can be controlled by combining ELID, and that the grinding wheels improve the surface roughness of the work. These results confirm that the new system is able to build ELID grinding wheels.
