Position statements presented by academic experts synthesize information that is not only useful for researchers but also for practitioners and clinicians. The writing process of position statements are robust and go through a rigorous internal review process to ensure reliability and clinical significance. These documents also go through a peer review process to ensure its academic integrity and transparency. The aim of this paper is to outline methods commonly used to develop position statements and provide overview of review process utilized to evaluate scientific recommendations.
