Abstract
An antagonistic action between long- and short-day treatments of flower bud fcrmation was found in rice plants. More than sixteen hours daylength effectively eliminated the latent potentiality for floral induction produced by short-day treatment. Long-day treatment was ineffective, however, when the potentiality was strong enough to make possible the differentiation of secondary branch primordia etc.
