Studies on Artificial Selection of Gametophyte (pollen) in Relation to Plant Breeding in Two-rowed Barley. : II. Selection of Qualitative Characters Related to the 5 th Linkage Group by High Temperature Treatment of F_l Spikelets Just before Flowering.

Abstract

In previous paper it was reported that pollen grains carrying B gene, black glume color, in two-rowed barley were selected with some ratio by the high temperature treatment of its F₁ spiklets (Bb in genotype). This was re-examined in other combinations of varietal crossings with several marker genes. It was proved that segregation ratios of genes Bb and Trdtrd (third outer glume) belonging to the 5th linkage group were affected by high temperature but genes on the other linkage groups were not affected.
