Abstract
Elastase activities of different origins were characterized using appropriate inhibitors. Elastase activity originated from the pancreas was inhibited by chloride ion (Cl-) but that from leukocyte was rather stimulated by Cl-.The positions of CM Sephadex elution of the both activities were different. These activities may be thus differentiated distinctly by adding 0.5M NaCl;that is, if the activity is increased on the addition of Cl-, it may be the leukocyte origin and is lowered it may be the pancreatic origin.
