Abstract

In recent years, large-scale renewal and repair projects for aging expressways have been undertaken throughout Japan. Unlike new bridge construction, it is important to understand the current condition of existing structures in the initial design phase of maintenance work to repair and reinforce existing bridges. For this purpose, point cloud data, one of the ICT technologies, is expected to be utilized. However, there are few cases in which point cloud data has been utilized for large steel structures. Therefore, this paper reports a study on the future extension of point cloud data by verifying the effectiveness and versatility of point cloud data, with the aim of improving the efficiency of the design process in maintenance works through the use of DX and BIM/CIM.
