Abstract
For the examination of properties of impulsive load due to falling rocks and dynamic behavior of rock-shed, rock falling tests have been done using a full-scale rock-shed roof, model of prestressed concrete.
From the investigation on experimental results and dynamic analysis by the finite element method, it is known that the impulsive load has to be evaluated by the integrated earth pressure of sand cushion over the rock-shed. Then the impulsive load is modeled using a mass of rock and a falling height. Numerical calculations have been carried out using this model load and the design impulsive coefficient for concrete rockshed roofs has been proposed.
