Abstract
Toll pricing systems by cordons are regarded as effective measure to improve urban environment and to collect funds for transportation infrastructure improvement. This study clarifies effect and contrivance of Oslo system, to give hints for other cities that are planning to introduce toll cordon system.
Firstly, this research shows that the effect of Oslo system on traffic volume is not small in the long term. Secondly, traffic problems related to Oslo system are examined. Thirdly, the relationship between urban form and distribution of toll gate is analysed. From the concept of “Commuting Pressure, ” Oslo's urban form is suitable for toll control and their cordon lines are well designed.
