Abstract
To estimate seismic performance of arch ribs(arch ribs, struts and laterals) of upper-deck type arch bridges for transvers direction, two experimental models, which have different width-thickness ratio parameter of its flanges and webs, were made and static cyclic loading test was conducted. At first, local buckling of struts and laterals was occured, after that laterals were damaged and were not able to hold its shape, finally local buckling of arch ribs was occurred and horizontal strength was decreased. After the experiment, coupled nonlinear analisys to estimate the experiment was conducted.
On this study, it is clear that dynamic performance of arch ribs for transvers direction is affected by stiffness of laterals with gussets and changes of supports stiffness under negative reaction force. It is important for nonlinear analytical simulation that horizontal strength of arch ribs are mainly affected by damage of cross members (laterals and struts).
