Abstract
It has been urgently required to establish reasonable design and construction technologies for long span PC slab on twin steel girders bridge to minimize the life cycle cost of a bridge and to find out rational design and construction method at the New Tomei expressway in Shizuoka area.
The degree of pre stress into the slab is the most important for the design of PC slab taking into the shrinkage and creep of concrete. The subject was investigated experimentally using a full sized long PC slab model and analytically. Verifications of construction procedures including pre stressing, pre stress loss due to cross beams and long-term creep of concrete and of load carrying capacity of the PC slab were carried out through the experiment for the full sized model and FEM analyses. Finally, the proposed design method was verified as a reasonable one and the applicability of FEM analysis on the design of PC slab was confirmed.
