Abstract
This paper describes a novel voice guidance system for understanding the situation of road infrastructures, such as bridges, road surface, etc combined with the high-performance mobile phone function and a big database system related to the road facilities maintenance in Yamaguchi prefectural government. The proposed system is possible to use as a real-time forecasting system by voice announcement about the damage state of road infrastructures for inspectors during daily patrol time. By applying the system to an actual road network in Yamaguchi prefecture area as a specific example, the results show that the system helps high effectively road infrastructure administrators not only to find the sign of early stage road facility damages but also to establish the rational maintenance strategies for deteriorating road infrastructures.
