Abstract

In 2008, Nagasaki University opened a MICHIMORI training course to nurture experts in the maintenance and management of roads ahead of the rest of the country. It is a collaborative consortium of construction industry, the university and local government. We develop human resources necessary for infrastructure maintenance management. Since 2008 Nagasaki University has conducted a MICHIMORI (road maintenance) training course to cultivate human resources in road maintenance management. A questionnaire survey among certified persons was held in 2015 immediately after registration as a private qualification with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, at a time when they had not participated in public works. Thereafter they became involved in public works, an organization of certified persons was established, and a review of the method of implementing the training course was held.

Based on the above, a questionnaire survey was held in September 2018 among MICHIMORI certified persons regarding activities as engineers and volunteers, activities in MICHIMORI training unit meetings, response to SIP infrastructure, the future of the MICHIMORI training course, new registration of private qualifications, personal evaluation and satisfaction by the certified persons, etc. In addition, a questionnaire survey was also conducted among the workplaces to which they were affiliated and the road administrators that deal with notification of problems on roads. This paper summarizes the results of these surveys, and discusses proposals for problem solving.
