Abstract
Based on the enforcement of the Landscape Act, the cities of Fukuoka and Kagoshima have decided to revise the landscape ordinance or guideline that they already have and make their landscape master plans stipulated by the Landscape Act. To make this endeavor practical it is necessary to assess the effectiveness of the old ordinance. Thus, a colorimetry was conducted on the color of buildings in both cities. As a result, the regulation of the chroma for Fukuoka was found to be quite effective. It is also clear that the colors of buildings of the two cities are distinctively different because of their meteorological conditions.
