Abstract
Travel time of public transport, such as railway and light rail transit (LRT), is more reliable than that of road traffic. When assessing the effect of railway transit, reliability should be considered, else the effect may be underestimated. Thus, we should aim at managing not only the transit and road users simultaneously and consistently but also the travel time uncertainty of cars and reliability (or punctuality) of railway for an exact evaluation. In this study, we propose a network equilibrium model with combined mode and route choice considering road travel time uncertainty. Then, we show an influence analysis on road traffic by introducing a railway into the Kanazawa urban area using the proposed model as a case study.
