Abstract
The Gender Equality Subcommittee of JSCE, initially established in 2004 as the Special Subcommittee for Gender Issue Investigation before changing its name in 2006, has made utmost efforts in gender equality in the civil engineering field. On that issue, it has held symposia at the JSCE annual meetings, conducted surveys of its corporate members; as a result, the promotion of gender equality was listed as one of the goals of the JSCE activities in the action plan called “JSCE 2010 - Utilize JSCE's Technology and Human Resource to Contribute to National and International Societies” developed in 2008. Since then the activity has been carried out under the new objective of the promotion of diversity, an advanced modification of the original gender equality. This paper summarizes its past activities of the subcommittee and addresses its future issues as well.
