Abstract
Volatile organic compounds (VOC) is emitted from contaminated air streams and causes adverse effect for environment and human health. In this study, a highly efficient treatment system for VOC was developed using down-flow hanging sponge (DHS) reactor. Toluene in the form of gas was fed to DHS reactor as a VOC source. DHS reactor achieved more than 80 % of carbon removal with 13 g-C·m-3 · hr-1 as critical loading rate.
