Abstract
Effect of polymer coating to membrane on membrane fouling control in MBRs was measures in a laborator-scale MBR reactor. Mixture of MBR polymers and PVA was coated to PVDF MF membrane and hydrophobic properties of coated polymers was measured.Conducting a long-term operation using the submerged MBR reactor, it was found that Coated membranes showed better performances compared tonon-coated PVDF membrane. E260 in the membrane permated and DOC removal rate in the membranes revealed that coated polymers prevented adsorption foulants such as proteins onte membrane surfaces and mitigated fouling phenonomena in MBRs.
