Abstract
In the Environmental Impact Assessment of the sea area ecosystem, it is necessary to discuss the mass balance and the energy flow. Particularly, in the Zostera bed, physical-biological-chemical environment changes as the Zostera marina grows up. Therefore, it is necessary to make an ecosystem model which simulates this relation well. We investigated the presence and the productivity of the Zostera marina, the benthic organisms and the sediments environment by the field observation from the viewpoint of the mass balance. In this paper, we made the Zostera bed ecosystem model in order to estimate the mass balance and the material flow. This model could compute the productive capacity and standing crop of the Zostera marina, the sediments quality and the amount of the benthic organisms. As the results of application of this model to the Zostera marina in Aburatsubo bay, we could simulate those values and the influence of the presence of the Zostera marina on the mass balance and the material flow in this field.
