Abstract
Tokyo Bay sometimes has hypoxia problems, which causes negative influences to the marine ecosystem. In order to improve the water quality in the Chiba Port, oxygenation systems which supply high dissolved oxygen (DO) water to the bottom of the port have been installed by the Chiba Port Office, MLIT from 2010. We performed an intensive field experiment and 3-D model simulations using ELCOM to evaluate the transport of oxygenated water in the port. The simulation revealed that there were basically clockwise flows in the period of rising tide and counterclockwise flows in ebb tide period in the area. It was also cleared that the flow condition was much affected by the strong wind because of the shallowness of the port. The model simulations of tracer transportation suggested that there were frequent changes of high DO water transport pattern due to the complicated flows by tides and winds.
