Abstract
Local rainfall distribution in Izu-Ohshima island due to typhoon 1326 was considered, using rainfall observation data and numerical simulation model WRF. It became clear that heavy rainfall observations were located in the northwestern part of Izu-Ohshima island and rainfall amount in the southeastern part was less than the northwestern part. Numerical model WRF, with horizontal grid size of 1km, well simulated the line shaped rain band along line from northeast to southwest. It was considered that the rain band was caused by the convergence of strong northeast wind and southeasterly wind. However, there was a little difference of rain band width between model results and radar observations. Heavy rainfall in the northwestern part was well simulated by the model. Calculated value of the accumulated rainfall and the maximum value of 1 hour rainfall had high correlation with the observed value, however the calculated accumulated rainfall was underestimated than the observations.
