Abstract
The 10th typhoon (2016) followed a unique path, landed from Tohoku region from the Pacific Ocean. In this region, a large number of houses have been damaged and incurred 22 casualties. Omoto river flows across Iwaizumi Otomo district in Iwate Prefecture and the district has been caused extensive damages by the flood. In this study, the disaster damages were evaluated by the external factors (rain-fall and water level), terrain factors and the flood flow regime using a numerical simulation. It showed the importance of early evacuation and the effectiveness of the meso numerical weather prediction model as a simple measure of the evacuation decision.
