Abstract
To evaluate accurately water-level profile in rivers in real-time, we present a new assimilation technique of water-level profile for 1-D unsteady flow analysis. In the present method, the observed water-level data at several points are interpolated and extrapolated to the streamwise direction with satisfying 1-D momentum equation and continuity equation. To confirm the fundamental performance of the present method, we apply the present method to water-level data at several points which are given from the simulation for a river-flow computation and observation at actual river under high-flow conditions. The results indicate that applying the present method to the water level data at appropriate intervals based on river channel conditions, accurately water-level profile is evaluated. Furthermore, the present method is applicable to the observed water-level data in actual river with compound channel.
