This paper aimed to analyze the railway timetables based on cyclic and symmetric rate and show the relationship between adopting cyclic and symmetric timetables and the number of passengers in local cities in Japan. Our results showed that the train frequencies of stations kept or decreased from 2011 to 2019 when the cyclic rate became more than 75%. Our results also showed that the number of passengers significantly increased when cyclic rate became more than 75%, and the number of passengers decreased when symmetric rate became less than 25%.
