The main cause of road cave-ins is cavities under the road surface. With the aging of infrastructure and the recent increase in the severity and frequency of natural disasters, the number of subsurface cavities is expected to increase further, and rationalization of countermeasures has become an important issue. As one of the measures against cave-ins, the authors have conducted joint research on a reinforcement method of the road surface above the cavities. In this paper, in addition to the results of previous studies, the method is evaluated based on the load-bearing capacity at its limit (when only the reinforcement sheet is left after the pavement underneath has collapsed) by cyclic loading tests and its long-term durability on actual roads. The effectiveness of the method was verified where the formation of unevenness in the surface was prevented where this method was applied to the road surface with subsurface cavities, thereby increasing the safety of the pavement until its rehabilitation.
