Abstract

In recent years, the stripping of asphalt pavement has become apparent on expressways, ordinary roads and overseas road construction projects of Official Development Assistance (ODA). Therefore, countermeasures against stripping of accelerating the structural damage of the asphalt pavement are required. Currently, various evaluation methods are proposed based on such as the strength ratio before soaking and after soaking of asphalt mixtures. On the other hand, the causal relationship between the physical and chemical properties of the materials used and loss in strength is not clear. In this study, we investigated physical and chemical properties of twelve aggregates including overseas production focused on the interface between the aggregate and asphalt binder. And, evaluated influence of the stripping for various laboratory mechanical tests.
