In order to mitigate the population decline in regional areas, it is necessary to encourage people to return to their hometowns. The purpose of this study is to clarify the factors behind return migration to the prefecture including hometown among employees who found their first job outside Tokushima prefecture. Particularly, we focus on the differences in decision-making factors depending on age and the time elapsed until returning. Therefore, we analyzed factors related to return migration based on the results of a questionnaire survey of people who found work outside the prefecture. We identified factors related to the number of years until return in addition to the distribution shape assumed to be a Weibull distribution. The results clearly showed that the factors for return migration differed depending on age. Return migration varies depending on the first place of employment. In addition, up until age 40, the return rate decreases depending on the travel time to the place of origin by car. On the other hand, it is suggested that the return rate declines in response to wage disparities among those aged 40 and over.
