Abstract

The rockfall protection soil embankment is considered a cost-effective and easily implementable solution for mitigating rockfall hazards, provided that there is adequate space alongside roads. This research aims to clarify the fracture behavior of the rockfall protection embankment. The results of weight-impact and static loading tests show that the deformation and failure behavior of the rockfall protection embankment were different under impact and static loading conditions. The damage of rockfall protection embankment subjected impact loading was smaller than the static loading for the same amount of work.
