Abstract

Japan has a long history of reclaimed asphalt pavement, and the use of recycled asphalt mixtures is increasing. However, concerns exist about the cracking performance of recycled asphalt mixtures using asphalt foaming technology due to the decrease in compaction temperature for high contents of recycled asphalt mixtures. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of asphalt foaming technology on the cracking resistance of repeatedly recycled asphalt mixtures. A series of asphalt mixture tests and binder tests extracted from the mixture were conducted to evaluate the cracking performance of asphalt mixtures. The results demonstrated that the foamed recycled asphalt mixtures exhibited the same cracking resistance as conventional recycled mixtures across a wide range of temperatures, from low to high.
