A embedded part of stoppers that constitutes a bearing part of railway bridges was damaged by the earthquake, and it was sometimes difficult to recover. If there is a structure of a embedded part of stoppers that can effectively increase a strength and a equation that can evaluate its strength, the damage can be controlled and recovery will be reliable and easy. In this paper, experiments and analyzes that focused on effects of the arrangement of reinforcing bars placed in a embedded part of square steel stoppers at girder end were performed. As a result, it is possible to increase the strength by devising the positional relationship with the stopper of reinforcing bars without increasing the amount of them. It is necessary to consider that there are three types of failure modes depending on the positional relationship with the stopper, the amount, the yield strength, the shape of reinforcing bars and the compressive strength of concrete in order to evaluate the strength. The failure mechanism of each of these failure modes was clarified.
