Abstract
This paper presents a summary of the second part of special session "Preservation, Development and Natural Resources Exploitation around Remote Islands" which was held in Kagoshima City on June 24, 2010. Presented topics were concerning nissology versus engineering, island policies for border areas, marine litters at remote islands, port service activity in Amami Island and port construction policy at remote islands in Kagoshima Prefecture. A panel discussion among panelists who made presentations was also conducted with the audiences.
