Abstract
In this paper, we investigated the characteristics of bound waves simulated on the basis of weakly nonlinear directional wave theory. Although bound waves develop when significant wave heights are large, they are small through the year and observed infragravity waves almost consist of free waves. The ratio of bound wave height for ingragravity wave height is large when water depth is small. And it is also large when Smax is small in The Sea of Japan. We proposed a formula for estimating the wave height of bound wave considering Smax and showed its validity.
