Abstract
Potential of offshore wind energy in Japan is enormous, but the potential in sea water depth of 50m or more accounts for the majority. To take advantage of this huge potential, the practical use of floating offshore wind power generation is required. However, floating offshore wind power is a demonstration phase still in the world; thus, in order to achieve early commercialization of floating offshore wind power generation in Japan, floating offshore wind power demonstration project has been kicked-off by the Ministry of the Environment from FY 2010. In this paper, the main achievements so far and outline of the demonstration project are introduced.
