Abstract

 In this paper, series of shaking table tests of embankments in different water content were conducted in order to clear the seismic behavior of unsaturated embankment and the effect of the slope protection works. Thought the rainfall was applied before the shaking, the water contents of the embankment were in unsaturated conditions with or without slope protection works. Due to the maintenance of the unsaturated conditions, two embankments in different water content showed similar behavior. Furthermore, the stability analyses of the shaking table tests of the embankment were carried out. The calculated results showed that the appropriate evaluation of embankment material considering unsaturated soils is important.
