Abstract
The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of enforcing cover material of transverse isotropy on the dynamic response of the layered hollow cylinders. Based on the two dimensional theory of elasto-dynamics the method of eigenfunction expansions has been used to obtain exact solutions for this problem. Numerical calculations are made for the hollow cylinder composed of isotropic with the covering transverse isotropic material, and stresses variations at transient states of the cylinder are shown graphically. The present results can be applied for a reference to approximate solutions using numerical approaches such as the finite element method.
