Abstract
Evaluation of fiber orientation in short fiber reinforced metals (SFRM) was attempted. An etched surface at transverse cross section to extruded direction was tilted to observe by SEM. Fiber angle distribution was determined by measuring the fiber angles in the photograph. The distribution was expressed by a simple form of Y=100/(1+Xm), and m shows the degree of orientation. This method is easy and reliable to evaluate the fiber orientation in SFRM, and is useful to standardize the evaluation method.
