Abstract
Thickness variation of the laminated biased FRR (Fiber Reinforced Rubber) composite plate under axial tension is measured by micrometer. It is found that Poisson's ratio in the thickness direction, νxz, changes its value from positive to negative due to cord angle and takes zero at the angles of 3 and 45 degrees. An approximate formula for νxz is derived through the assumption that the laminate is incompressible. This formula agrees well with the experimental results.
