Abstract
The reinforcement effects of asphalt-pavement with various types of synthetic woven fabrics, nets, chopped fibers and beads were studied. The experimental data indicated that such properties of asphalt compound as bending strength, compressive strength, and deformation under impact load can be improved. On the basis of experimental results, polyester fabrics and nylon nets were tested on actual asphalt-pavement construction. At the actual field test, a load-spreading effect with synthetic woven fabrics and nets were found especially on the ground which can be deformed by heavy traffic load or on the soft ground. The reinforcement of asphalt pavement is, however, at the experimental stage yet and the further studies on the practical effects and economical advantages will be necessitated.
