Practices and Issues of Child Psychologist in Child Guidance Center: A Literature Review

Abstract

In this paper, the author discussed practices of child psychologist in child guidance center by literature review. The author investigated the database (CiNii) and “Case studies in child guidance center” from 1986 to 2016 in Japan. The author extracted and reviewed 113 papers. As a result, the author found there are several important features of child psychologist in child guidance center. The features are fulfillment of legal and social requirements, motivational management for clients, community approach, psychological assessment and care for temporal protection and institutional care, psychological care for changing of the living environments, and collaboration with child caseworker in child guidance center. The result of our study showed importance of therapeutic approach for safety and secure. Moreover, the author found several problems such as the need for sensitivity to safety and secure environments.
